In place of our usual quarterly State of Subscriptions report, we’re ending the year with a look back at some of the top data-driven insights in the video streaming industry from 2024 and will be highlighting these here on the Antenna Insights Blog through December 20.
Promotional offers are an increasingly prevalent technique to enable consumers to sample streaming services at a lower cost. In particular, Black Friday has become a big moment for streaming acquisition. Antenna observed that six of the top 10 streaming video promotions in the past year were for Black Friday deals.
Promotional pricing tied to NFL programming also delivered sign-ups. Peacock’s AFC Wild Card Weekend promotion, coinciding with their exclusive streaming broadcast of the Wild Card Game between Kansas City and Miami, generated the fourth highest daily average of sign-ups at 86k, based on Antenna estimates. Paramount+, which carried Super Bowl LVIII, ran a promotion that coincided with the NFL playoffs came in ninth on the list of top promotions with an estimated 38k in average daily sign-ups.
